Wotanism proposes an ethic and folklore, as well as political usefulness. Wotanism provides what people expect from a religion: clarity on origins, the end, and the meaning of life; an explanation of the existence of evil; a valid theory on the afterlife.
we will see in detail these three points :
I. On the origin, end, and meaning of life in Wotanism.
II. The explanation given by Wotanism for the existence of « evil. »
III. On the fate of man in the afterlife according to Wotanism.
I. On the origin, end, and meaning of life in Wotanism.
In the beginning, there was nothing. In the end, there will be nothing. Why bother, right?
It’s like a Nô play (Japanese theater).
At first, the stage is entirely empty. It slowly fills with various creatures – sumptuous deities, lovers with cruel fates, ghosts and hairy monsters – who love passionately, hate intensely, fight heroically, suffer horribly, and die finally in a strange mix of tragedy, gag, and formal beauty.
Then, they all leave the stage, and it’s entirely empty again. Therefore : nothing.
The Inconceivable. The Unconceived. That which cannot be named because it has no name. As the eyes adjust to the darkness, this nothing turns out to be a huge emptiness, an infinite gap, an infinite void : Ginnungagap.
And this void is only an appearance – it conceals within it, secret, imperceptible, the punctual energy, which carries the initial magical force and all living potentialities.
From the sudden fusion of the punctual energy and the infinite void, of the infinitely small and the infinitely large, of fire and ice, Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life, is born, around which the three worlds are arranged – Wotan, the Father of All, who will organize them – and Gungnir, the Sacred Spear, by which Wotan submits everything that lives to his Law, the Law of Thelema, which assigns each being its precise, unique, and necessary function in the universal order.
We mentioned three worlds.
— The first is the celestial world, Asgard, where the immortal gods who reign over the universe reside. Everything that lives fears their power, and it is composed of:
ᚸ
The Gotheim or Asgard proper, the realm of the Aesir (gods of the « celestial » filiation) where Valhalla is located.
ᛥ
Vanaheim, the realm of the Vanir (gods of the « terrestrial » filiation).
ᛣ
Lightalfheim, also known as Ljosalfheim, Alfheim, the Land of the Light Elves (beings that oriental traditions call « Angels »).
🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
— Under Bifrost, is the middle world, Midgard, between earth and sky – this world is shared between :
ᛠ
Jotunheim or Utgard, the realm of the jötnar.
The powerful giants, brutal forces of nature, who shape it and believe themselves to be the masters.
ᛢ
Mannheim or Midgard proper, the realm of men :
The Humans, half-gods, half-beasts, have the function of maintaining harmony, beauty, and correctness, which Wotan made the measure of things.
ᛡ
Svartalfheim, the realm of the « little people » (gnomes, fairies, elves, etc.), as well as the « little gods » that are the Forest Elves (minor spirits/deities that animate the various elements of the landscape, hearth, etc.).
— Niflheim, the underworld, where creatures who work with metals live – greedy, industrious, and avoiding the light.
This world is composed of three realms :
ᚣ
Niflheim or Niflheim itself, the world of mists, « where creatures who work with metals live – greedy, industrious, and avoiding the light ».
ᚫ
Muspellheim, the world of shadow fire, the domain of the giant Surt (the egregore of « the conspiracy of the unwelcome against the one who walks his path with a light heart »), where excremental creatures live who burn with envious hatred towards the divine order of things and are moved only by the burning rage to harm it.
ᚪ
Helheim, the realm assigned by Wotan to the cruel goddess Hel, where those who have renounced their function in the universe to follow the blind routine of the crowd go – the abode of the mediocre man, the lukewarm man, the man of the herd.
We see that the average human, the everyday person, sitting with arms crossed in front of their TV waiting for things to happen, therefore destined for Hel, is worth even less than a Muspelheimer, who is destined only for Muspelheim…
Note that there is no ontological rupture separating these three worlds, which « overlap » – the celestial and the earthly, the high and the low, the divine and the human are inextricable.
II. The explanation given by Wotanism for the existence of « evil. »
The universal economy work on a principle of perfect balance. However, from perfection comes immobility, which is the negation of life.
The Great Ancient has therefore introduced into the world an indispensable disruptive element (in our case : Loki and his familly), whose function is to force all beings, and primarily the Heimdall man, to effort, to movement, that is, to progress.
Loki is « the conspiracy of the unwelcome against the one who walks his path with a light heart », his task is to constantly question the divine order of things, and thus compel it to become stronger and he causes
— To the bodies, the continual aggression of microbes.
— To the gardens, the tireless regrowth of weeds.
— To the civilizations, the relentless undermining work of outcasts.
As soon as a Heimdall man vegetates :
— his character deteriorates.
— his dwelling becomes dirty
— his country becomes muspelheimer and also brown.
Thus the world was created, so that our people is driven to action.
III. On the fate of man in the afterlife according to Wotanism.
Death is not really of interest to Wotanists. We leave it to « revealed » religions to give meaning to death, to seek salvation. We focus on this life, on our people, to protect it, adorn it, and order it.
The deceased experience a fate necessarily resulting from their earthly journeys :
— Those who have devoted themselves to fulfilling their will, their True Will, and whose death crowned life go to Valhalla.
— Those who have led an existence attentively conforming to artificial standards of behavior, sought for themselves the blindness of the herd, the comfort of cattle, and whose death is therefore arrival at a stage of maximum inertia, go to Helheim.
Some deaths are orgasms, others are fecal excretions.
That’s all.
But there is no punishment to fear, no retribution to expect :
There is only Wyrd, karma, the merciless link of cause and effect. In the meantime, this world is enough for us, with the duties it imposes and the satisfactions it offers.
Alu.
