Basic reminder (for a Wotanist)

 Gylfaginning 51 :

Then said Gangleri: ‘What shall come to pass afterward, when all the world is burned, and dead are all the gods and all the champions and all mankind?

Have ye not said before, that every man shall live in some world throughout all ages? »

Then Thridi answered: « In that time the good abodes shall be many, and many the ill; then it shall be best to be in Gimlé in Heaven.

Moreover, there is plenteous abundance of good drink, for them that esteem that a pleasure, in the hall which is called Brimir: it stands in Ókólnir.

That too is a good hall which stands in Nida Fells, made of red gold; its name is Sindri. In these halls shall dwell good men and pure in heart.

On Nástrand is a great hall and evil, and its doors face to the north: it is all woven of serpent-backs like a wattle-house; and all the snake-heads turn into the house and blow venom, so that along the hall run rivers of venom; and they who have broken oaths, and murderers.

Basic reminder (for a Wotanist)

A ‘world’ is a type of existence which is characterised by its own dimension.

I – The first world, ‘Gimlé’, is the world of Emanation, the world of divine thought. It is a completely spiritual world without any separate entity. It brings into existence and sustains the other worlds. It is the highest of the four worlds.

II – The second world to be revealed is called ‘Brimir’ (Ókólnir, the world of Creation.).

It is the world of souls. It is the first world where separate entities are allowed to exist. These different creations are of the highest spirituality, they are souls in their full luminosity, before they descend into physical bodies. This is the secret meaning of the Skadi myth.

III – The third world to be revealed is called ‘Sindri (Nida Fells)’; it is the world of Formation, which is par excellence the world of the dwarfs. After Sindri, which includes separate entities of a higher spiritual level, the Aesir, Brimir is also a spiritual world.

Its separate entities have a spiritual form, and form two categories: the « little people » of nature, who appeared at the beginning of Creation and are responsible for nature itself, and the dark elves of « reward and punishment », who carry out the divine will and are constantly replaced according to the actions of men.

IV – The fourth world to be revealed is called ‘Erda’, the world of Action; it is the world of physical existence, the furthest from the emanation of the divine light, which therefore reaches it filtered through the three higher worlds. All types of physical existence are possible in this world, and even the existence of opposing forces is permitted…  This is the world of man as an entity composed of two contradictory elements, a soul from the very high world of Sindri, and a body belonging to the lower world of Erda (the famous tree trunks, see seventeenth stanza of the Völuspá).

All these notions are very profound, and the definitions given here are purely descriptive and superficial.
