Engaging in politics is a futile endeavor.

Engaging in politics is a futile endeavor.

No matter one’s political leanings – liberal, alt-right, or otherwise – the outcome remains the same.

You beseech the very entity that seeks your downfall, begging for mere scraps.

Involving oneself in politics is akin to attempting to tame a wild wolf.

But who is this wolf?

His name is Fenrir, a symbol of tyranny and absolute despotic power, stands above all others. Our ancestors referred to this force as the embodiment of Big Brother. Fenrir will manipulate, deceive, and resort to violence in order to maintain its grip on power. Power is its sole obsession.

The myth of Fenrir’s binding by the gods, culminating in the loss of Tyr’s arm, demonstrates the gods’ fear of the wolf’s ever-growing influence. They devised a plan to contain him.

Initially, they tried physical constraints, using the unyielding chain Laedingr (https://pantheon.org/articles/l/laedingr.html). However, Fenrir broke free with ease. This shows us that grassroots political movements and activism cannot halt the erosion of our values.

Undeterred, the gods tried a different approach – a mental bond called Dromi (https://pantheon.org/articles/d/dromi.html). But Fenrir lowered his head and slipped free. This reveals that intellectual pursuits, such as exposing corruption, blogging, and analyzing news through alternative channels, are ultimately ineffective. Fenrir remains unbound, as the energy invested in these intellectual endeavors fails to restrain the beast.

So how can Fenrir be contained?

The answer lies in Gleipnir (https://pantheon.org/articles/g/gleipnir.html). Odin, the wisest of all, sent Freyr’s messenger, Skirnir, to the dwarves, who forged a magical bond strong enough to bind Fenrir. This teaches us that it is only through reconnecting with our ancestral beliefs and forming tight-knit communities centered around the wisdom of our forebears that we can preserve our people and secure the future for the next generation.

The Edda, an ancient collection of Nordic myths, is the purest and most illuminating source of wisdom. By sharing the teachings of the Edda with our brethren, we can bring the light of ancient knowledge to those in need, becoming messengers of wisdom like Skirnir.

In other words:

Imagine being in a prison where negotiating with the guards only changes the color of your cell walls – this is politics, or the first bond.

Forming a union to protest the conditions of your confinement is the second bond.

Uniting with your brethren and devising an escape plan, with outside help sending a helicopter for your rescue, represents the third bond.

By building communities centered around the light of the Edda, the gods will bestow enough wisdom upon you to transform this world from a mental prison into a flourishing garden reminiscent of Idunn’s domain. In the face of Fenrir’s oppressive presence, you can create a sanctuary akin to Fensalir, the palace of Frigg, Odin’s beloved consort.

To truly safeguard our values and protect future generations, we must look beyond politics and instead focus on reconnecting with our ancestral wisdom. By forming strong communities centered on this shared knowledge, we can push back against the tyranny represented by Fenrir and work together to create a brighter future for our people, because : Heimdall children
